In 2016, on behalf of the Deutsches Studentenwerk, together with the Deutschen Zentrum für Hochschul- und Wissenschaftsforschung (German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies / DZHW) and funded by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (Federal Ministry of Education and Research / BMBF), students were surveyed on their economic and social situation: according to the study, they have an income on average of 918 EUR per month, are 24.7 years old and prefer to live in shared apartments.
